#zscommunitea UPDATE| Our trees have been planted in Indonesia

Updated: Sep 22, 2020

Hello girls! How are you? I am sure you are mostly enjoying a quiet summer at home, and though I know it's probably not what we had all envisioned for our summer, but I feel like the current pandemic situation has given us the opportunity (& time!) to turn inwards and further work on ourselves (however that may look like for each of us).

On the blog this month, while some of you would have probably seen the update back in June on our posts via Instagram, I feel like this topic deserves a blog post of its own. Thus, here it is : the update on our #zscommunitea trees in Indonesia!

Remember the #letsdrinkteaandplanttrees campaign we had launched last year?

(for those interested, read about our campaign here).

Well, in June this year, we received an update from our campaign partner One Tree Planted that our ZS Communitea saplings have been planted, and thanks to our collective support a total of 100,000 trees (!!!) were planted in Tanjung Puting National Park in Central Borneo.

If I could just invite you for a moment, to take a step back and digest what this means - 100,000 trees. This would mean 100,000 new homes for the endangered orangutans and other precious wildlife in the area that was previously degraded due to wildfires.

Planting these trees helps in restoring the land, encourages biodiversity, supports the eco-system (particularly of the critically endangered Bornean Orang Utan).

I strive to emphasise here that this alone wouldn't be achievable without each of our contribution and once again, I thank you all for your support in that we managed to play a part in making this happen.

I think that there is something so special about the act of planting little saplings which would one day, grow into giant, beautiful, magnificent trees. And while we may possibly no longer be here when that one day comes around, there would be a future generation who would be so fortunate to be able take shelter under these trees. Now, how magical is that?

...And while we may no longer be here when that one day comes around, there would be a future generation who would be so fortunate to be able take shelter under these trees.

We hope to continue to make magic together and make a difference no matter how small in the years to come - as always thank you.

Lastly, also a big thank you to One Tree Planted for all the beautiful dedicated work.
